7 Best GPU Alternatives to NVIDIA for Gamers in 2026
Seven AMD Radeon and Intel Arc graphics cards that beat NVIDIA on price for gaming in 2026, from the RX 9070 XT to the Arc B580, with real street prices, the NVIDIA card each one rivals, and where they fall short.
The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is the best NVIDIA alternative for most gamers. It roughly matches the RTX 5070 Ti in games without heavy ray tracing, for about $350 less at current street prices.
The RX 9070 is the best value: it beats the RTX 5070 at 1440p, has 16GB of memory, and has held its price better than almost any card this year.
The Intel Arc B580 is the best budget pick at about $310 to $330, with 12GB of memory for 1080p and light 1440p gaming.
NVIDIA still leads in heavy ray tracing, path tracing and upscaling image quality (DLSS).
Graphics card prices jumped in 2026 because AI data centers are buying up memory, and NVIDIA cards have risen more than AMD's. Expect to pay well above launch prices.

Why graphics card prices are so high in 2026
AI data centers are buying huge amounts of memory, and that has pushed up the cost of the GDDR memory on graphics cards. TechSpot's August 2026 survey found GPU prices rose 15% in a single month and sat 28% above launch prices on average, not counting the RTX 5090. Most NVIDIA cards rose about 20% in that month, while Radeon cards rose 8% to 16%, partly because AMD uses cheaper GDDR6 memory. That gap is a big part of why AMD and Intel are such good alternatives right now: an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB that launched at $429 was selling for about $730 in August, while the RX 9060 XT 16GB it competes with was about $460.
1. AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT - Best overall
The RX 9070 XT is AMD's fastest current card and the closest thing to an RTX 5070 Ti for less money.
What works: It has 16GB of GDDR6 memory and AMD's RDNA 4 architecture. In TechSpot's 52-game test, the RTX 5070 Ti was only about 1% faster at 1440p and 4% faster at 4K, and with ray tracing off the 9070 XT often came out ahead at 1440p. It's about 25% faster than the RTX 5070. It supports FSR 4 upscaling and AMD's newer FSR Redstone features, including machine-learning frame generation. Street prices around $750 to $830 compare with roughly $1,050 to $1,180 for an RTX 5070 Ti.
What doesn't: NVIDIA is far ahead in path tracing: the 5070 Ti was 63% faster in Doom with path tracing on at 1440p. NVIDIA's DLSS generally looks somewhat better than FSR 4. It draws 304W, so AMD recommends a 750W power supply.
Best for: 1440p high-refresh gaming and entry-level 4K.
2. AMD Radeon RX 9070 - Best value
The RX 9070 is a slightly cut-down 9070 XT that costs less and draws far less power.
What works: It has the same 16GB of memory and RDNA 4 features as the XT, and TechSpot found it 13% faster than the RTX 5070 at native 1440p across 23 games. It draws 220W. It has also held its price better than nearly any card this year: TechSpot found it only 13% above launch price globally in August. Because the XT is about 12% faster but around 16% more expensive, TechSpot rated the 9070 the slightly better buy.
What doesn't: Ray tracing still trails NVIDIA, and like every card here, its price has crept up through 2026.
Best for: 1440p gamers who want the most performance per dollar.
3. AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE - Best for 1440p on a tighter budget
The RX 9070 GRE is a smaller RDNA 4 card that came to the US in June 2026 at $549.
What works: It has 12GB of memory and draws 220W. Early reviews found it a little behind the RTX 5070 in rasterized games and about even in ray tracing. Tom's Hardware's tracker had it at $549 in October, with lows of $499.
What doesn't: At its $549 launch price it costs the same as the RX 9070's MSRP, which has 16GB and more performance, so it only makes sense when it's clearly cheaper than a 9070.
Best for: 1440p gamers who find it on sale well below the RX 9070.
The RX 9060 XT 16GB is AMD's answer to the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, and in 2026 it's far cheaper.
What works: At launch it was within about 1% of the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB at 1440p. It has 16GB of memory, draws 160W, runs on a 450W power supply, and supports FSR 4 and Redstone frame generation. At about $460 to $520, it costs about $270 less than the 5060 Ti 16GB.
What doesn't: It's about 20% slower than the 5060 Ti in ray tracing. Avoid the 8GB version unless you only play at 1080p: TechSpot calls the 8GB cards in this class deeply flawed, though it rates the 8GB 9060 XT better than the 8GB RTX 5060 Ti.
Best for: 1080p and 1440p gamers who want 16GB without paying NVIDIA prices.
5. Intel Arc B580 - Best budget card
The Arc B580 is Intel's best gaming card, with 12GB of memory at a price where most cards have 8GB.
What works: It's priced around the RTX 5050 and below the RTX 5060, and handles 1080p and light 1440p well. XeSS 2 adds upscaling and frame generation, and since February 2026 Intel's driver can switch on XeSS 3 multi-frame generation (up to 4x) in any game that supports XeSS 2 frame generation, with no game patch needed.
What doesn't: You need Resizable BAR turned on in your BIOS, or performance drops sharply. It also loses performance on older or slower processors in CPU-heavy games, though 2025 drivers reduced it in some games. Older games can still be hit-or-miss.
Best for: Budget 1080p builds on a recent CPU and motherboard.
6. Intel Arc B570 - Cheapest new card worth buying
The Arc B570 is a slightly cut-down B580 with 10GB of memory.
What works: It performs about like an RTX 4060 or RX 7600, at around $260, and gets the same XeSS 2 and XeSS 3 features as the B580. It draws 150W.
What doesn't: Supply is patchy, and TechSpot often found only one or two listings per country. It also shares the B580's Resizable BAR requirement and CPU overhead. The B580's extra performance is often worth the small price gap.
Best for: Tight 1080p budgets and first gaming PCs.
7. AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX - 24GB for 4K, if you find one
The RX 7900 XTX is AMD's previous flagship, with 24GB of memory, and it's still a strong 4K card if you can find one.
What works: Its 24GB of memory and 384-bit bus give it plenty of headroom at 4K, and since June 2026 RX 7000 cards can use FSR 4.1 upscaling in supported games.
What doesn't: It's out of stock new on Tom's Hardware's US price tracker, so you'll mostly find it used. It can't use FSR's machine-learning frame generation or Ray Regeneration, which need RX 9000, and it draws 355W.
Best for: 4K gamers who find a good used deal.
What about new cards?
Don't wait on a new generation from AMD or Intel this year. AMD hasn't announced its next gaming cards, and board partners expect them in the second half of 2027 at the earliest. Intel has no new gaming card announced: its larger Battlemage chip shipped as the Arc Pro B70 workstation card, and a gaming B770 has reportedly been shelved. AMD's new RX 9050 launched in July 2026 outside North America and Europe, and early reviews panned its value.
